Opelo vs Lumary
These two are not really competing for the same provider. Lumary is an enterprise platform built on Salesforce for large multi-service organisations. Opelo is a self-serve NDIS system you can be running this week.
Which one should you pick?
Choose Lumary if you are a large provider, you deliver across disability, aged care and allied health, you already run Salesforce somewhere in the organisation, or you need custom workflows and have the internal capacity to run an enterprise implementation properly.
Choose Opelo if you are an NDIS provider who wants to know the monthly cost before booking a sales call, if you want to be operational in days rather than months, or if a Salesforce-based system is more platform than your operation needs.
Most providers we speak to know which side of that line they sit on within about a minute. If you are somewhere in the middle, the deciding question is usually whether NDIS is your whole business or one part of it.
Two different kinds of product.
This is less a feature race than a choice between two operating models.

Lumary details are taken from its public website at lumary.com as at 23 September 2026, including its statements that the platform is built natively on Salesforce and covers disability, aged care and allied health across Australia and the United States. Lumary does not publish pricing, so no cost comparison is possible here. Where we describe implementation length we are describing the normal shape of enterprise Salesforce projects, not a figure Lumary publishes.
Why we cannot give you a price comparison.
Lumary does not publish pricing. That is a legitimate choice for enterprise software, where the cost genuinely does depend on scale, module selection and implementation scope. It does mean you cannot compare monthly figures without going through a sales process first.
What we would suggest when you do get a quote is to ask for the whole picture rather than the licence line. Enterprise platform costs usually include the software licence, an implementation or onboarding fee, data migration, training, and sometimes an ongoing partner or consultant relationship to make changes. Ask what a configuration change costs once you are live, because on a Salesforce-based system that is often a billable piece of work rather than a setting you toggle.
Opelo publishes its plan prices, and a configuration change is something your own admin makes. That is the trade. You get less depth and less customisation, and you get to know the number in advance.
Where Lumary is clearly the better call.
We sell Opelo. On this comparison in particular, there is a wide band of providers for whom Lumary is the right answer and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
You are genuinely large. Hundreds of staff, multiple service lines, a finance team that needs enterprise reporting. Opelo is not built for that and we would not take the job.
You operate beyond the NDIS. Aged care and allied health are first-class parts of Lumary's product. For us they are out of scope.
You already run Salesforce. If your organisation has Salesforce skills and licences in place, a native Salesforce platform inherits all of that and a separate system does not.
You need deep custom workflow. If your processes are unusual enough that off-the-shelf will not fit, an enterprise platform with a configuration layer is the correct tool.
Opelo and Lumary, common questions.
How much does Lumary cost?
Lumary does not publish pricing. Its site directs prospective customers to request a demo or speak to its team, which is the normal shape of an enterprise sales process. Expect a quote based on your size and module selection, a licensing conversation, and an implementation cost on top. Opelo publishes plan pricing, so you can work out your monthly cost before you speak to anyone.
Is Lumary built on Salesforce?
Yes. Lumary states that it is built natively on Salesforce. That brings the strengths of the Salesforce platform, including its reporting, permissions model and very large integration ecosystem. It also means you are running a Salesforce-based system, which usually implies a longer implementation, a partner or consultant to configure it, and Salesforce platform considerations in your total cost.
When is Lumary the better choice?
When you are a large provider, when you operate across disability, aged care and allied health rather than the NDIS alone, when you already run Salesforce elsewhere in the organisation, or when you need deep custom workflows and have the internal capacity to manage an enterprise implementation. Those are real advantages and a smaller platform will not match them.
How long does each one take to get running?
An enterprise Salesforce-based implementation is typically a project measured in months, involving scoping, configuration, data migration, testing and training. A self-serve platform like Opelo is set up in days and configured as you go. Neither is better in the abstract. A twelve-worker provider does not need a months-long implementation, and a national multi-service organisation usually does need the rigour.
Not sure which side of the line you are on?
Tell us your staff count, participant count and whether you deliver outside the NDIS. We will tell you honestly if you should be talking to an enterprise vendor instead.
